Grainger & Worrall (GW), the UK’s leading provider of high precision casting technologies, opens a state-of-the-art, machining facility at its site in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. The new centre now fully operational, incorporates the existing Telford facility with an additional £5 million investment, centralising the company’s machining operations.

With a high-end, controlled environment, the new facility will further shorten the engine development process, while maintaining the highest output quality. The new machining facility will also help to deliver production-capable parts at prototype level, thus further reducing lead times.

The 33,000 sq ft, temperature controlled machining facility includes seven vertical, two five-axis and six horizontal machining centres, alongside five CMM measuring machines. The state-of-the-art equipment further enhances GW’s already world-leading production process.

Installed in a purpose-built environment, the all-new facility will allow GW to improve its measuring capacity and capability.

Mark Davies, Plant Director of GW Machining, said: “Coming at an investment of more than £5 million, our new machining facility will help to improve product quality and will also provide our staff with the state-of-the-art equipment to develop the projects of tomorrow.

“I am especially pleased that all of our people in Telford have moved to the new facility in Bridgnorth ensuring continuity. I think it is great testament to the company and shows they are engaged and want to be part of GW, which is brilliant.”

GW is the leading provider of engine castings to high-performance manufacturers, including Porsche, Aston Martin, Bugatti and McLaren. This latest announcement follows the recent news that Aston Martin has confirmed GW as the preferred engine castings partner for the new DB11. GW also provides high precision castings to a number of F1 and NASCAR motorsport teams.
