Grainger & Worrall, demonstrated its unrivalled capability in high performance engineering at the Motorsport Industry Association’s (MIA) 2015 defence showcase. The event, which saw over a hundred delegates visit BAE System’s headquarters in Telford, Shropshire, brought together leading organisations from across the motorsport arena to share their expertise with BAE’s defence engineers and supply chain specialists.
Attended by a number of high-profile industry representatives, including Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, Philip Dunne, the showcase celebrated the progress being made in utilising high-performance automotive competencies to meet the specific demands of the defence sector.
Alongside advanced engine, gearbox and driveline technologies, the latest in state-of-the-art structural competencies, electronic architectures and concept development were on display, as well as a number of recent progressions in hybrid technology, electric drives, power storage and cooling management solutions.
Speaking about the event, Edward Grainger, director of Grainger & Worrall, commented: “With extensive experience in high-precision engineering, we work in partnership with organisations across the defence sector to provide a total casting solution. However, there is a significant opportunity for a closer working relationship between motorsport and defence – which was the key aim of the event.
“As well as providing a good platform to discuss how we utilise our automotive capabilities to deliver innovative projects in other sectors, the showcase allowed us to profile our supply chain excellence and commitment to continued research and development.
“As one of the larger employers in Mr Dunne’s constituency, he was impressed by our ongoing commitment to leading the way in casting innovation, as well as our highly successful employee training programmes and collaborative approach to casting development.”
